Some people think, "Let me wait...I'll give when the time is right."
Maybe it will be right after the election, or when the economy straightens out, or after Christmas? Maybe you've already hit your "quota" for giving this year?
There's no time like the present. Research charitable organizations now. See what good is being done out there. If you're feeling bummed out, it might lift your spirits to get outside of your own issues/problems/concerns, and think about others. I know that might not work for everybody, but it works for some.
In time, there will be better, more efficient ways to give. There will ultimately be better tools to research what organization you want to donate to. But, as most of us know, if we wait until things are perfect to do anything worthwhile, those things will often never get done.
So, give now...and, while you're at it, demand more transparency from the charity of your choice. Request more transparency, and less "fund-raising". See what happens. Then, adjust.
And, if you give once a year, or a couple of times a year, consider breaking your total donation up into smaller pieces. Even if the total amount you give doesn't increase, by giving more frequently, and more actively, your spirit will be rewarded. And, the side effects of that can only make this world a better place. Give now.
